The client is a global leader in imaging and document solutions, with operations spanning multiple geographies. To support its growing operations and modernize its technology backbone, the company undertook a major ERP upgrade from Oracle 11i to Oracle R12 (12.2.10).
The client had been operating on Oracle 11i, a legacy ERP version with limited functionality and outdated user experience. Key pain points included:
Accounting Gaps – 11i lacked subledger accounting capabilities, creating reconciliation complexities.
Outdated Costing Approach – Traditional COGS accounting in 11i limited flexibility in supply chain and finance integration.
Inefficient Approvals – Approval management was basic and not scalable for modern workflows.
Testing Challenges – Functional test cycles required extensive coordination, with data gaps making test script preparation difficult.
High Risk in Transition – Moving from 11i to R12 required careful handling of multiple inbound and outbound integrations across SCM and Finance.
Without an upgrade, the client risked operational inefficiencies, increased support costs, and limited ability to leverage modern Oracle functionalities.
We partnered with the client to design and execute a comprehensive Oracle R12 upgrade program. The approach included:
Structured Testing Cycles – CRP1 to identify visible differences between 11i and R12, and CRP2 to analyze mandatory and optional changes.
Process Redesign in SCM & Finance – Adoption of Subledger Accounting and DCOGS (Replacing COGS) to streamline reporting and compliance.
Approval Management Engine Implementation – Enabling more flexible and automated approval workflows.
Test Script Development – Creation of 14 SIT scripts covering Oracle Order Management, Inventory, Advanced Pricing, and PO Accrual Reconciliation.
Issue Resolution – Defect management, including closure of critical defects and proactive identification of new issues such as accrual reconciliation discrepancies.
Training & Knowledge Transfer – Supporting UAT with multiple business teams and training for field and back-office users.
Similar to our Oracle Redwood Migration project, this upgrade ensured modernization without disrupting existing business processes.
