About the Client

The client is a global leader in electrical and network infrastructure solutions, manufacturing cabling, connectors, cabinets, and management systems for industries including telecommunications, data centers, and industrial operations. With multiple facilities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica, the client needed a solution that would support a phased rollout of Oracle Fusion SCM while maintaining seamless integration with existing Oracle EBS systems.

The Challenges

The client was running its supply chain on Oracle EBS 11i, covering purchasing, inventory, order management, shipping and planning. As part of its modernization strategy, the business chose to implement Oracle Fusion SCM for the U.S. and Canada in the first phase, with other regions to follow.

This created a major operational gap:

  • Sales orders were to be booked in Fusion (U.S. business unit only).

  • Some specialized products remained available only in non-Fusion warehouses

  • Shipping had to continue from these EBS-managed warehouses while invoicing was handled in Fusion.

Without an integrated interim solution, this co-existence challenge threatened order fulfillment, revenue flow, and customer satisfaction.

The Solution

We designed a co-existence framework between Fusion and EBS using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).

Key steps included:

  • Internal Supplier Setup – Created internal suppliers in Fusion corresponding to warehouses not yet migrated (e.g., Costa Rica → CR-Supplier, Mexico → MX-Supplier).

  • Sourcing Rules in Fusion – Configured "buy" type sourcing rules so that Fusion automatically generated drop-ship purchase orders for items from these warehouses.

  • Automated Order Flow – Used OIC integration to extract Fusion PO details and create corresponding sales orders in EBS.

  • Seamless Shipping & Feedback Loop – Warehouses in EBS handled shipments, which triggered ASN (Advance Shipment Notice) updates. Through OIC, these updates flowed back to Fusion, progressing the sales order to invoicing.

  • End-to-End Integration – Ensured that order booking, shipping, invoicing, and AR were connected across Fusion and EBS without disrupting existing processes.
