About the Client

The client is a global manufacturer of electric motors, power transmission components, and industrial automation solutions. Serving industries such as aerospace, automotive, food & beverage, HVAC, and material handling, the company operates across multiple regions with a focus on reliability, innovation, and compliance.


The Challenges

One of the client’s units, responsible for handling sensitive military goods, faced significant compliance risks. Their existing process lacked automated checks for export-sensitive items, relying instead on manual vigilance and training.

  • No automated identification of export-restricted goods

  • No item-level categorization to flag regulated items

  • Manual compliance checks prone to human error

  • Orders could be processed without authorization, risking penalties and reputational damage

  • Audits were difficult due to missing systematic controls

The client needed a robust solution that could:

  • Automatically identify the classified items

  • Place sales orders on hold until compliance clearance was verified

  • Ensure 100% traceability in reports

  • Enforced the legacy system to expected compliance levels.

  • Eliminate reliance on manual enforcement while ensuring audit readiness


The Solution

To address these risks, we embedded automated compliance enforcement directly within the Oracle Order Management workflow.

Key solution components included:

  • New Export Compliance Category: Added a custom item category in the Item Master for all military-classified goods.

  • Automated Hold Logic: Developed a custom process calling the OE_Holds_PUB.Apply_Holds API to automatically place flagged sales orders on hold.

  • Workflow Integration: Ensured holds were fully visible and actionable within the standard Sales Order form.

  • Audit-Ready Reporting: Enhanced existing Noetix reports to track all orders placed on hold for compliance reasons.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Worked with compliance teams to define rules, Order Management users to validate usability, and IT/DBA teams for deployment.

  • Testing & Training: Conducted unit, UAT, and regression testing; provided training sessions and user guides to sales and compliance officers.

This ensured compliance was no longer optional—it was built into the system.

The solution strengthened compliance, reduced risk, and gave the client a reliable, auditable process for handling sensitive exports
