A $5B privately held U.S. company in the Agriculture, Food & Beverages, and Consumer Packaged Goods sector. With fully integrated operations, from farm to shelf, they manage a diverse portfolio including fruits, nuts, flowers, water, wines, and juices. The company is the world’s largest grower of tree nuts, the top citrus producer in the U.S., and the global leader in flower delivery.

The Challenge

Despite strong operational capabilities, the client faced ongoing cost accounting challenges within their Inventory and Manufacturing processes. Key transactions often remained in an "Unprocessed" status, leading to inaccurate inventory valuations and disrupting month-end financial closes.

To tackle the root causes of these challenges, we delivered a structured, five-step approach:

Comprehensive Health Check
Conducted an end-to-end review of Oracle Fusion Cost Management configurations, including cost profiles and item costing attributes for the error transactions. Identified process and configuration gaps such as missing work order closure delays, incorrect item attributes (Costing Enabled, Inventory Asset, Expense Flag).
Root Cause Remediation
Resolved recurring Cost Processor and Create Accounting errors such as missing layer costs, missing cost profiles, incorrect item attributes like Inventory Asset Value, etc. Applied permanent fixes by updating Cost Profiles, correcting item attributes, and cleaning stuck transactions by updating the receipt costs.
Proactive Reporting with BI Publisher
Developed custom BI Publisher reports to highlight errored transactions with clear root-cause insights for faster resolution.
User Enablement & Training
Empowered finance users to independently identify and resolve common issues, reducing IT dependency.
Ongoing Monitoring & Prevention
Implemented proactive monitoring to detect unprocessed transactions before they impacted financial closes.
