The Challenges

As part of its Oracle Fusion implementation, the client decided against building direct, real-time interfaces with its legacy Warehouse Management System (WMS) to reduce costs.

Shipment details and lot numbers had to be exchanged manually.
Pick, pack, and ship confirmations required multiple redundant steps.
Manual communication created delays, errors, and inconsistencies in order fulfilment.

Enable sales order shipments directly in Oracle Fusion.
Use the same lot numbers shipped from the legacy WMS for consistency.

The Solution

In collaboration with the primary SI partner, our Oracle SCM consulting team implemented a cost-effective automation solution using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and a custom Enterprise Scheduler Service (ESS) job.

Key solution steps included:

CSV-Based Lot Upload
Warehouse users uploaded files containing specific lot numbers linked to sales orders.
Automated Reservations
The system reserved those lots against the corresponding sales orders in Oracle Fusion.
Pick & Ship Automation
The ESS job processed the uploaded file, creating shipments and executing pick/ship confirmations automatically.
Seamless File Processing
All steps ran without manual intervention, streamlining the order fulfilment process.

This ensured that the lot numbers matched exactly with those used in the legacy WMS, delivering both traceability and consistency without the cost of real-time integration.
