The client is a global leader in professional services. With large and complex service portfolios, quoting and order creation processes were time-intensive, repetitive, and error-prone. The sales team needed automation within Oracle CPQ to accelerate deal cycles, improve accuracy, and reduce manual effort.

The client's sales operations were slowed by two major inefficiencies:
Manual RFC Order Creation: Sales reps had to manually create "Request for Change" (RFC) orders from existing transactions. This repetitive task introduced errors and wasted time.
Inefficient Line-Item Uploads: For service quotes tied to existing hardware, reps manually entered hundreds of line items from CSV files. They then had to search external databases for asset details and End of Sales (EOS) dates, leading to delays and inaccuracies.
These gaps caused longer quoting cycles, data integrity issues, and reduced selling time, directly impacting revenue generation.
Comparable quoting delays were overcome in Oracle Order Management Compliance Automation, where validation rules and automation minimized manual entry.
We designed and implemented two custom Oracle CPQ solutions using BML scripting, REST APIs, and UI enhancements.
This API-driven architecture aligns with Oracle API Integration for Invoice Payments, which automated end-to-end transactions across Oracle systems.
Key Solution Elements:
Built a custom admin action button called "Create RFC Order."
Developed backend BML scripts to copy selected line items and transaction data into a new transaction using JSON and REST API calls.
Added robust error handling to prevent data integrity issues, such as missing parent-child relationships.
Similar high-volume transaction automation was implemented in Oracle Fusion Automated Sales Order Shipment, improving accuracy and speed in order creation.
Developed BML scripts to parse uploaded CSV files with hundreds of line items.
Automated external API calls to fetch asset details (Part Number, Asset ID, Quantity) based on Serial Numbers.
Queried internal parts databases to fetch End of Sales (EOS) dates, enriching quotes with accurate lifecycle data.
Designed efficient chunked API calls to handle large datasets reliably.
This real-time data-sync approach reflects Oracle ERP & SCM Cloud Integration, enabling unified information flow between front- and back-office systems.
Created reusable BML functions following performance best practices.
Ensured the solution was scalable for large quoting volumes.
